First Polercoaster Being Built - Willenator - 11-14-2013

When I saw the concept of the polercoaster from US Thrill Rides last year, I thought it was a neat concept but nothing more. I never thought one would actually be built, but I was wrong. Turns out one will be built at the LakePoint Sporting Community in Emerson, Georgia. This fascinates me, so it's on my list of coasters to follow as it's being built.

If you haven't heard of this yet, this is what a polercoaster looks like:

Quote:The Polercoaster is an incredible double engineering marvel that will provide visitors an opportunity to ride one of the tallest and most thrilling roller coasters in the United States, as well as visit the observation tower with retail, restaurant/bar and observation area at the top. Polercoaster is a full coaster experience in a small footprint, including multiple loops, barrel rolls and high G-force maneuvers, making it a ride like nothing on the market. The vertical nature of the Polercoaster creates an amazing visual “icon” for LakePoint with potential for exceptional lighting options.

“At over 325 feet tall, the planned Polercoaster at LakePoint will be the tallest coaster in the Southeast and one of the top-ten tallest coasters in the United States. We expect to deliver high thrills for more than 4 million annual visitors to LakePoint,” said US Thrill Rides President, Michael Kitchen. “We believe the Polercoaster will add an electrifying view and an exciting high thrill attraction to the LakePoint development.”

I don't think it will be a success. I think this is total gimmick.

I don't know how this will be engineered, but unless they get a firm that knows how to (and is willing to) design rides, I forsee this being a total failure as well.

I don't foresee this being a failure at all. The coaster is the only gimmick on the whole structure. To have a concert/restaurant venue at the top of one of these is the most eye popping element. The coaster is just an added bonus.

Having a restaurant on top of a tower isn't a gimmick?

Not really they have restaurants at the top of buildings all around the world. Like the space needle in Seattle and the strausphere in las Vegas.

My question is.....will S&S - Sensei be Credited as the Roller Coaster's Builder? I'll believe this thing IF it gets Built and Opens. Until then it will be like Skyvue Las Vegas. Wink

RE: First Polercoaster Being Built - Mustang - 11-15-2013

it looks like an interesting concept. If it does get built I may just have to go ride it.
